Scoring Answers Settings
WebAssign provides flexibility to control how assignments are scored.

Numerical Tolerance
Numerical tolerance determines whether student answers that are close to the answer key are counted as correct. In WebAssign, numerical tolerance can be set in four different places to override the default numerical tolerance of ±2%.

Setting Units Partial Credit for Assignments
Some numerical questions require your students to specify units in their response — for example, 1.609 km instead of 1.609. To reward your students for demonstrating a partial understanding of the question, you can configure your assignments to award partial credit for numerically incorrect responses that specify compatible units.

Setting Significant Figure Checking Options for Assignments
Some numerical questions require your students to specify the correct number of significant figures in their response in order to receive credit. You can configure whether your assignments check significant figures for these questions or treat them like ordinary numerical questions; what tolerance to use when significant figures are checked; whether to award partial credit for numerically correct responses that do not use the correct number of significant figures; and what kind of help to provide students about specifying significant figures in their responses.

Counting Responses With Syntax Errors As Incorrect Submissions for Assignments
When question part submission is allowed, you can choose whether or not to count responses containing syntax errors toward students' total submissions. You can configure this separately for numerical, symbolic, or algebraic questions.
