GradeBook Page

To open this page, from the menu, click Grades > GradeBook, and then select a course for which you have set up a GradeBook. The GradeBook page is displayed, which is the main page for your GradeBook.

You can view scores, categories, the current grade and final score as of the last GradeBook update, and more.

The top half of the page is described below:

UpdateUpdates a GradeBook with new scores.
SettingsView and change settings for a GradeBook that has been set up.
WizardOpen the GradeBook wizard. Used to set up the GradeBook initially.
Averages Last UpdatedThe date and time the GradeBook was last updated.
Assignment Category Headings (Homework, Quiz, Test, etc.)If WebAssign® calculates the scores for the category, you can click this heading link to view the scores. The number in brackets [ ] is the number of assignments in this category. If you manually upload these scores, a letter M (for manual) is displayed.
TotalTotal number of points possible.
Class Average (mean)Statistical average.
medianScore and/or time that falls in the middle of the range.
standard deviationA low standard deviation means that the scores and/or times are tightly clustered; a high standard deviation means that the scores and/or times are widely scattered.
min/max
  • Time: Most and least amount of time spent on the assignment.
  • Total: Highest and the lowest scores achieved on the assignment.
Tool iconOpen the Final Grade Calculation tab to view or change category weighting.
Histogram iconView a histogram of the current distribution of scores in the class.

Dropped/Current/AllView dropped, current, or all students.
Category Name (Grade, Final, Homework, etc.)Click to sort.
Student NameClick student's name to open Grades Summary page for the selected student, where you can view responses and log information, grant extensions, change submissions, and assign a penalty.
ScoresClicking on a score allows you to override it, or view the score's calculation details. A red asterisk (*) indicates that a score has been overridden.
Show FacultyList faculty with student access.
Email SelectedSelect the check box for one or more student names to send an email.
Note: You can click a column heading to sort by that criterion. To revert to the default sort by student name, click the Name column heading.
