You can award partial credit for incorrect responses as a way to encourage
your students to attempt questions. You can use this either for all questions
to encourage your students to complete the assignment, or for specific
questions that you want your students to attempt, for example, a challenging
question that requires a little more effort.
To award partial credit
for an incorrect response:

Open the Conditional Points window.

Under Select a Condition, select Assign
credit for an incorrect answer.

Enter how much credit to award.
For example, if you specify 25%, then incorrect responses receive 25% credit,
correct responses receive full credit, and no credit is awarded if no response is
submitted.

If available, click Calculate Points
Breakdown. This feature is not available when editing conditional points for
assignment settings.
Review the displayed points for correct and incorrect responses. If
needed, change the credit awarded and click Calculate Points
Breakdown again.

When the conditional points settings are correct, update the assignment or assignment
template.
