Reset Your Password

You can reset your Cengage or WebAssign password if your account has an email address. You can also use this procedure to set your WebAssign password if your instructor created an account for you but did not give you a password.

Note: If WebAssign uses your institution's authentication server, use your school's method for changing your password.
  1. Go to
  2. On the sign-in page, click Forget for the password you need to reset.

    You can reset either your Cengage or WebAssign password.

  3. Provide the requested information.
    1. Type your email address and click Continue.
    2. Answer your security question.

      If you haven't set up a security question, complete the Captcha challenge instead.

    3. Click Submit.
    1. Type your Username, Institution code, and Email Address.
    2. Click Submit.

    If the information matches your account, you should receive a password reset email.

    If you do not receive a password reset email, ask your instructor to reset your password.

  4. Open the password reset email and click the reset link or button.
  5. Enter your new password in both fields.
  6. Click Reset Password (Cengage) or Submit (WebAssign).
A confirmation message verifies that your password was changed or indicates why it was not changed.
