Create an Account (K-12 Using NGLSync)

Create an NGLSync account to access your products and set up your course. Don't create an account if you use a learning management system (LMS) like Blackboard® or Canvas™ or NGLSync to access Cengage. After your first sign in on these platforms, an account is automatically created for you.

Alternatives

Important Do not create an account if your district uses Cengage bulk rostering services or a Single Sign-On (SSO) system. Contact your district technology coordinator for login credentials and instructions.

Create an NGLSync account if you are a first-time WebAssign instructor whose district uses NGLSync.

  1. Open the email with access instructions from your district and click Begin Registration.

    If you did not receive an email with a registration link, contact your Cengage representative.

  2. Search for your school by name or zip code.
  3. Select your school and click Next.

    If your school is not listed, see School Not Shown.

  4. Enter your name and school email address, then click Next.
  5. Create a password and click Next.
  6. To sign in to your new account, click Go to Portal.
  7. Review and accept the Cengage terms and conditions.

    The NGLSync portal opens.

  8. For faster sign-in, copy the displayed URL and add it as a bookmark.

Create Your First NGLSync Course

If you want, create your first course immediately after creating your account.

  1. Click Create Course.
    You can create a new course, copy a course you have already taught, or copy another instructor's course if you have their course key.

    Create new course:

    1. Select Start a new course and click Next.
    2. Select your school and click Next.
    3. Select a product and click Next.

      You can scroll through the products purchased by your district, or search by name, subject, or author.

    Copy your own course:

    1. Select Copy an existing course, then click Next.
    2. Select your school and click Next.
    3. Select a course and click Next.
      You can search by course name or the textbook used.

    Copy course from course key:

    1. Select Copy from a course key.
    2. If you do not know the course key for the course you want to copy, find it in the NGLSync district directory.
    3. Enter the class key, then click Validate.
    4. Click Next.
    5. Select your school and click Next.
  2. Enter your course name, start date, and end date.
    You can edit this information later.
  3. Optional: To prevent students from automatically joining your course after a certain date, set Student self registration to Require approval and enter a date in Require approval on.
    Tip Requiring enrollment approval deters cheating from students with duplicate accounts.

    If a student tries to join your course after your chosen date, you will receive an email notification and can approve or deny their request.

  4. Click Next.
  5. Review your course information and click Finish.
  6. Click Add Students to Course.
  7. To have students create their own accounts and enroll in your course, click Copy URL and Course Key and share this information with your students.

    Alternatively, click Add Students Manually to enroll students and create their accounts if necessary.

  8. Click Done.
Your course is created in your learning platform and shown on your NGLSync My Courses page.
