Best Practices for Using Your GradeBook

These recommendations might help you get the most out of the GradeBook feature.

  • At the end of the first week of class, set up a GradeBook and allow students to see their own scores and how they compare to the class. Many instructors find this approach motivates students to keep up.
  • Several times during the term, sort your GradeBook and send email messages to students at the bottom of the class encouraging them to come to you for extra help.
  • If you plan to sync scores to another learning management system (LMS), don't set up GradeBook.
  • Use the histogram to identify class trends and as a tool to discuss how the class is doing and help motivate your students.

For example, after the due date for an assignment passes, show your students how the class performed on the assignment.
