View Student Answer Distribution for an Assignment

You can see the number and percentage of students in your class selecting each answer provided for questions on your assignment.

This can be useful for identifying not only what questions your students had trouble with, but whether there was a pattern to their answers. You can also use this behavior to display the results if you use WebAssignas a clicker system in your classroom.

  1. Open the My Classes page.

Click Classes > My Classes and find the section you want.

  2. Go to the roster of the section in which the student is currently enrolled.
    1. Click Classes > My Classes.
    2. Under the section the student is enrolled in, click Roster.
  3. Click scores beside the assignment.

The Scores page displays scores for the selected assignment for all students currently enrolled in the section.

Note The page might load slowly if your class has many students or if the assignment has many questions.
  4. On the Scores page, click Summary.

The Grades Response Summary page displays each question on the assignment with information about the distribution of student answers.

Important Answer distribution information is shown only for multiple-choice, multiple-select, and fill-in-the-blank questions.

For numerical, symbolic, and image map questions, a distribution is shown indicating only whether the answer was correct or incorrect.

For essay mode questions, each answer is listed, but no distribution information is shown.

For all other questions — including calcPad®, mathPad, and physPad® questions — no distribution information is shown at all.
