The QA Analyst II will be working with the development group to help facilitate all testing efforts in order to release the most efficient application available. This role evaluates and tests new or modified software applications and software development procedures used to verify that programs function according to user requirements and conform to establishment guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Lead junior team members in day-to-day testing and planning activities.
- Lead the effort in developing and maintaining test plans, test scenarios, and test cases for user interface, functionality, system, and ad-hoc testing.
- Review test plans and test cases developed by junior team members.
- Perform functional tests, regression tests, and data tests.
- Report, track, and determine priority of reported bugs using bug-tracking system.
- Document quality assurance practices.
- Review and validate external bug reports.
- Participate in project design, functional, and technical reviews.
- Assist in creating resource estimates for new projects.
- Keep track of new project requirements.
- Assist with the development of new testing strategies and methodologies.
- Work regularly with user interaction designers, software developers, and technical writers on all aspects of the application.
- Handle multiple projects and directives in a fast-paced environment.
Required Skills
- A solid understanding of quality assurance as part of the development process
- Well-versed in all testing methodologies (white vs. black box test work, system vs. functional)
- Detail oriented and a problem solver
- Proven written and verbal communication skills and a comfort level in communicating with individuals and groups
- Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
- Expert experience with defect tracking tools
- Advanced understanding of database concepts and web applications
- Experienced with version control systems and managing testing environments
- Strong working knowledge of the agile software development process
Experience and Education
- Bachelors Degree or combination of 4+ years of education and work experience
- 3+ years of experience working within a testing or QA role
- 5+ years of direct experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of quality assurance standards for software testing preferred
