Adjust Class Insights Settings

You can adjust the thresholds for Class Insights status icons and for flagging questions. You can also specify a different set of thresholds for a particular assignment category, for example, to set a higher standard for tests than for homework.

Important: Class Insights settings apply to all of your sections.
  1. Click Settings to open the Settings panel.
  2. For Base settings on class average after, select which attempt the status and flag icons should be based on.
Best Practice: Base settings on your students' first submitted answer.
  3. For Topic Status, drag the two sliders to set cutoff points for the status icons.

The first slider sets the cutoff point between the Needs Work and At Risk icons.

The second slider sets the cutoff point between the At Risk and Got It icons.

  4. For Flagged Questions, drag the slider to set the cutoff point for flagging a question part.

If any question part is flagged, the question is flagged.

  5. Optional: Specify different settings for a particular assignment category.
    1. Select an assignment category under Add category exception.

Only assignment categories with currently scheduled assignments are listed.

    2. Complete steps 2-4 for the category settings.
  6. Optional: Click trash to remove a set of category-specific settings.
  7. Click Save.
Topic status and question flagging are updated on the Class Insights pages:
Needs Work The percentage of weighted question parts answered correctly after the specified number of attempts is less than the lower Topic Status cutoff point.
At Risk The percentage of weighted question parts answered correctly after the specified number of attempts is between the two Topic Status cutoff points.
Got It The percentage of weighted question parts answered correctly after the specified number of attempts is greater than the higher Topic Status cutoff point.
flag icon The percentage of correct answers for any question part after the specified number of attempts is lower than the Flagged Questions cutoff point.

If any assignment categories specify different settings, those settings are used when determining status and flagging for assignments in that category.
