Links to WebAssign Courses or Activities Don't Work

When you click a link to a WebAssign course or activity from your LMS, the link doesn't open a new browser window with the course or learning activity.

Cause

This is usually caused by the browser blocking pop-up windows from the LMS domain.

Note Because of different browsers' default settings, this is more likely to happen with Chrome™ and Firefox®.

Resolution

In your browser settings, allow pop-ups for both cengage.com and your LMS instance.

In some cases, a school IT policy might reset these settings periodically. If this happens, allow pop-ups again.

Allow Pop-Up Windows in Firefox

Allow pop-up windows from your Learning Management System (LMS) and Cengage sites so you can open your learning content.

  1. Go to about:preferences#privacy.
  2. Beside Permissions > Block pop-up windows, click Exceptions.
  3. For each of the following domains, type the domain and click Allow:
    • [*.]webassign.com
    • [*.]webassign.net
  4. Click Save Changes.

Allow Pop-Up Windows in Safari

Allow pop-up windows from your Learning Management System (LMS) and Cengage sites so you can open your learning content.

  1. If not open already, open WebAssign in a browser tab.
  2. Click Safari > Preferences.
  3. Click the Websites tab.
  4. Click Pop-up Windows.
  5. Select Allow for the following domains, if listed:
    • [*.]webassign.com
    • [*.]webassign.net
