The feedback addresses student preconceptions and helps them catch algebraic and other mathematical errors. Solutions are carried out symbolically as long as possible, with numerical values substituted at the end. This feature promotes conceptual understanding above memorization and helps students understand the effects of changing the values of each variable in the problem.
